Just finished a website for Ruth Gill. She is a Freelance Museums Consultant & Head of Interpretation at the Historic Royal Palaces.
To make the topic of Museum display interpretation visually interesting I went for a quirky navigation with a general theme of old printed encyclopaedia/artefact document.

Magic eye motion

In 2003, my friend Chris Haworth produced this animation for his Art degree show. At the time I couldn’t see the illusion. If you are unfamiliar with Magic Eye then this is what you must do: Put your face against the screen and slightly blur your eyes, move your face slowly away from the screen (about 1-2 feet), focus your vision on an imaginary object that resides 1 foot behind the screen.. or just look at the reflection of your own eyes in the screen. You should see an object emerge from the white noise. I think the trick is to pause the video (link below) then press play once you have the image visualised.

Trust me, it does work!.. I can formulate the still image but it escapes me when the video is running. Comment what you see if you master it!

Blast Wave Lost at Sea: Preview

Mike Cann & I have now pretty much completed our new game: Blast Wave Lost at Sea… and we are now looking for sponsors on Flash Game License. The premise of the game is as follows: A giant octopus has destroyed a ship leaving a group of passengers stranded in icy, shark ridden waters. You must guide the survivors past various hazards to helicopter rescue.

I’m pretty pleased with this one… so hopefully on release, it’ll win over the stern critics on Kongregate & Newgrounds.

To help promote the game I have put together this little preview trailer youtube vid.

Garbage Pail Kids

I am currently working on a new game with Mike Cann. It is a rethinking/sequel/remake of his previous game Blast Wave. For the artwork I am taking inspiration from my old Garbage Pail Kids stickers. I collected them when I was about 9 and I still think the illustrations are pretty cool. It is a really bizarre mix of cuteness and gore. The object of the game is to save the children from a shipwreck – and avoid shark attacks, kids turning blue, sharp rocks etc (cue gore ).
